How to Properly Wear Orthotic Shoes and Custom Orthotics
Owning a pair of custom orthotics or orthotic shoes is a healthy life choice, but owning a pair isn’t enough on its own, you must make sure that you are wearing them properly, in order to achieve all of the health benefits. Tamir Kfir provides orthotic shoes and custom orthotics to all of its clients.
When you start to wear your custom orthotics or orthotic shoes for the first time, it will feel incredibly painful, and quite uncomfortable. You must keep wearing them, as it takes some time to break them in. It is recommended that you wear your orthotic shoes for one hour the first day, two hours the second day, three hours the third day, and so on. You might find that your feet accommodate quicker to custom orthotics. If that is the case, you will be able to wear them for longer periods of time, sooner. Keep an eye on the level of pain you are feeling as you wear your custom orthotics, it will help you find the right time to wear them on a fulltime basis.
Remember, custom orthotics won’t work in every shoe you have. Some shoes will accept them better, while others are too small or will create immense discomfort. If you notice your custom orthotics or orthotic shoes squeaking, you can apply a small amount of baby powder in your shoes; this can reduce squeaking and increase comfort.
